I am currently in the process of making a 1:100 scale model of a streetscape of Mexico. It is based upon the streets of Guanajuato, Sonora, Puebla and Michoacan. Most of the models are made out of foamboard, cardboard and paper-mache.

We Bare Bears Cave
This was the first model I made to scale based upon an existing design. It is the house from We Bare Bears, which is an animated series created by Daniel Chong for Cartoon Network.

Feedback for the Model

The day I completed the model, I posted the images on Social Media. It was retweeted by the creator of the show and was well received by the community of We Bare Bears' followers.

Creating the Model

The model was created in a deconstructed shoe box. I first painted and assembled the background; and then created the structure of the cave using polystyrene. The three images below show the development of this process. The first structure I made (Image 2) was not an accurate representation of the cave and had to recreated (Image 3). I had to adjust the existing background by taking out a section in order for it to match the new structure.

Once the structure was complete, I painted the the rocks with acrylic and started making the grass. The grass is made up of very fine sawdust painted in different colours, as shown in Image 6.

I then made the window and door frames out of paper-mache and cardboard. The door features a bead as the handle and a bit of painted sponge as the doormat.

Upon completion of the main structure, I made the individual objects that are located around the Cave (Image 10). The following list is the of objects with the materials they are made of:
Patio Chair: Metal wire, an eraser for the armrest and a plastic wrapper. / Mug: Paper. / Tyre: An eraser. / Plastic Bowl: An eraser and super glue for the water. / Basketball: An eraser. / Tree: Wire covered in paper-mache and sponge scourer for foliage. / Basketball Hoop: Cardboard, painted wire and lace for the net. / Satellite Dish: Paper-Mache. / Hosepipe: An eraser and the coating from garden wire. / Weight: Metal wire and an eraser. / Bins: Polystyrene coated in PVA glue and acrylic. 1:25 Scale Model of a House

This was the first time I used white foamboard and made a model to an exact scale. I first took measurements of the House (Image 1), scaled it down and then drew the blueprint (Image 2). Image 3 and 4 are the first and second floor of the house, respectively.

A Tree in the Night

This model was created using a coffee pod box. The hills were created first out of paper-mache and painted with acrylics, as seen in Image 1. I then made the tree using a sponge scourer for the foliage and cardboard for the tree trunk & branches (Image 2). The river is made out of a few layers of PVA Glue and Cling Film. Image 4 shows the final model with paper stars and a boat.

A Field of Daffodils

This was another model created in a coffee pod box, with the field made out of paper-mache. To create the daffodils, I used colourful straws for the stems and middle of the flowers (Image 1). Colourful tissue paper was used to create the petals.
